About Us

Who is FOPED?

The Forum for Peace, Environment and Development (FOPED) is a community organization under Congolese law engaged in the promotion of peace, environmental protection, women's empowerment, food security and community health in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Since its creation, FOPED has worked mainly in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu to accompany vulnerable communities through awareness-raising, training and community-support actions.

Our approach is integrated: environment, protection, food security and health move forward together — because none of these challenges can be solved in isolation.

Our story

Active since 2015 in eastern DRC, FOPED was founded to stand alongside communities affected by conflict and poverty. From a few local awareness actions, it has grown into an organization running four programs and a dedicated team — a Hospital Center and a Center for the Empowerment of Vulnerable Women among them — serving the most vulnerable across Ituri and North Kivu.
